Legal Experience

Real Estate
Since 1972, the Schaumburg office has averaged 300-400 residential, commercial, and industrial real estate transactions per year. The office is able to handle this volume in all of the 6 Chicago metropolitan counties because of the capable staff employed by the firm to assist its attorneys. Our real estate paralegal has been with the firm for 13 years, and her experience allows the firm to provide outstanding service to our clients at a lower cost to them.

Divorce
Our matrimonial division has handled a number of very high profile divorce matters over the years. Our attorneys have tried numerous cases involving child custody issues, support payments, and division of substantial marital property between the parties. Our attorneys and paralegals are extremely capable of conducting financial discovery, as well as discovery involving issues concerning child custody and spousal support.

Personal Injury
Our civil litigation division has extensive experience in personal injury claims, business disputes, workers compensation claims, probate matters, and real estate litigation. Over our many years of experience, our attorneys have represented both plaintiffs and defendants; and have tried numerous cases to verdict before both judges and juries.

Our Partners

Edwin H. Shapiro
Ed, the partner in charge of the real estate division, and the Schaumburg office, received his bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Illinois. After passing the CPA exam, he attended and graduated from Northwestern University School of Law. He then joined the public accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. and spent 4 years in their tax department. In 1967 he became a founding partner in the law firm of Rosenfeld, Hafron & Shapiro.

In 1972, the firm opened an office in Schaumburg, one of only 4 law firms in a village of 8,000 people at the time. Ed became active in the northwest suburban legal community; and in 1985, became president of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, at that time the 2nd largest local bar association in the State of Illinois. He joined the law firm of Rotenberg, Schwartzman & Richards and acquired considerable experience in commercial, civil and real estate litigation before becoming a founding partner in 1967.

Norman has considerable experience and expertise in preparing personal injury cases as well as many other types of civil litigation.
